DK Metcalf takes parting sH๏τ at Seahawks as WR alludes to 'business' decision causing Steelers trade

DK Metcalf has taken a parting sH๏τ at the Seahawks as he acknowledged a ‘business’ decision led to his trade to the Steelers.

After six seasons in Seattle, Metcalf requested a trade and landed in Pittsburgh, where his new team rewarded him with a five-year, $150million contract – the richest in franchise history.

And while speaking on the Get Got Pod with former Seahawk Mike Robinson, Metcalf claimed the ‘grᴀss is greener’ in Pittsburgh.

‘I had a chance to play with some great players, from Russ, Bobby [Wagner], to Marshawn [Lynch], [Tyler Lockett] as well,’ he began.

‘Got a chance to meet some greats like Kam Chancellor, Richard Sherman. But you know it’s time for me to move on. I think the grᴀss is greener on the other side.’

Robinson then said seconds later that ‘sometimes the business of the sport doesn’t always match up to what we’ve done on the field.’

The comment drew an enthusiastic nod from Metcalf, who said ‘exactly.’

Metcalf earned over $62million in Seattle, according to Spotrac.

The team also cut Metcalf’s fellow receiver Tyler Lockett this offseason, with Metcalf’s trade request actually coming on the same day as the former’s release from the team.

Seattle GM John Schneider later criticized the timing of that move.

‘Yeah, probably not intentional but very disappointed in the timing,’ Schneider said via Seattle Sports 710. ‘We wanted this to be a very special day, we wanted it to be Tyler Lockett Day.

‘We’ve had cap casualties, very famous, extremely important legends that have been cap-casualty individuals that we probably could have handled a little bit different in the past.

‘So we wanted to handle Tyler’s situation as classy as we possibly could, so yeah, we were all very excited to have this really nice day for Tyler to celebrate Tyler. Yeah, I’d be lying – I felt bad for Tyler. You put [on the] TVs, [it’s] all about DK instead of Tyler Lockett.’

In exchange for Metcalf, the Seahawks did receive a 2025 second-round pick.
