Jalen Milroe puts up unreal 40-yard dash time at eye-popping Alabama pro day

Jalen Milroe might have run the fastest 40-yard dash for an NFL quarterback prospect, but that depends on who you ask.

The former Alabama signal-caller showed off his speed during the school’s pro day after opting not to run the drill during the NFL combine last month and posted a 4.40-second dash, SEC Network reported as the aggregated “official” time.

Alabama football reported Milroe’s time as a 4.37, but his first try was recorded between 4.5 and 4.52 by SEC Network.

His second was recorded between 4.44 and 4.6.

His aggregated time would put him on the list of some of the fastest prospects at the position to ever run the drill, a group that includes Robert Griffin III (4.41) and Lamar Jackson (4.34).

“A lot of people wanted me to run and I was in the process of thinking if I’m going to run, and so I gave everybody what they wanted,” Milroe told reporters after pro day wrapped up.” My goal was to get in the 4.3s, so goal completed. That was first and then secondly be able to show out on pro day.”

The Steelers were among the teams at Alabama’s pro day to watch Milroe after NFL Network reported that the QB had dinner with head coach Mike Tomlin on Tuesday night.

“The best part of this process is getting to know a lot of people and during this process knowing a lot of owners, GMs, position coaches, head coaches,” Milroe told reporters. “During that timeframe it’s so important to just build a relationship No. 1 and to talk ball. I just thought it was a great opportunity to build with the Steelers.”

Milroe is coming off a season in which he led the Crimson Tide in rushing yards (726) and rushing touchdowns (20).

In all, he threw for 2,844 yards, 16 touchdowns and 11 interceptions and recorded a 64.3 completion percentage.
