Aaron Rodgers has a free agency preference — and one man is holding it up

It appears Aaron Rodgers has a clear preference in where he wants to play next year.

But is it mutual?

Rodgers hopes to sign with the Vikings, according to The Athletic, as the Giants and Steelers wait for him to make up his mind.

Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell has the biggest influence over whether Minnesota will pursue Rodgers, the report added, meaning perhaps the biggest domino remaining in free agency is in his hands.

The Vikings already have J.J. McCarthy, whom they drafted with the No. 10-overall pick last year, on the roster, though he missed all of his rookie year due to two separate knee surgeries and remains a huge question mark.

And they let Sam Darnold, who enjoyed a career renaissance last year with the team, walk in free agency, and he subsequently signed a three-year, $100.5 million deal with the Seahawks.

The Giants are in desperate need of a quarterback, and met this week with Russell Wilson and Joe Flacco, The Post’s Paul Schwartz confirmed.

Rodgers spent the last two seasons with the Jets, though was limited to just a few snaps in 2023-24 due to a torn Achilles.

The Jets went 5-12 with Rodgers under center last year, and he recorded 3,897 pᴀssing yards, 28 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.

Signing with the Vikings would be eerily similar to the trajectory Brett Favre — Rodgers’ predecessor with the Packers — took after his tenure in Green Bay.

Favre had stints with the Jets and Vikings to end his career after spending 17 years in Green Bay.

Rodgers spent 18 years with the Packers and already had his Jets stint — could the Vikings now be next?
