Nearly one year after OJ Simpson’s death, the NFL great and accused murderer’s ‘other’ Heisman Trophy has hit the auction block alongside a number of his personal mementos.
The real Heisman Simpson won in 1968 as a running back at Southern California was sold at auction in 1999 for $255,000 to help pay his compensatory and punitive damages from the wrongful death suit filed by the families of his ex-wife Nicole and her friend Ronald Goldman.
Simpson was famously acquitted of their 1994 murders before being found responsible by a preponderance of the evidence for both deaths in 1997. He was ordered to pay $33.5 million in compensatory and punitive damages.
However, Goldman’s father, Fred, has alleged in court papers that Simpson still owed more than $117 million with interest following the Buffalo Bills legend’s death from prostate cancer in April.
But while Simpson’s real Heisman is believed to be owned by a collector in Reno, Nevada, according to ESPN, the replica trophy awarded to his alma mater, USC, has since made it to auction.

ESPN reported in 2024 that the replica Heisman was stolen years earlier before ultimately finding its way back to the school. What remains unclear is how the trophy went from USC to the Simpson estate, which put the item up for auction on Goldin.co.
In any case, bids for the replica Heisman reached $8,000 as of Friday evening. Bidding will end on March 29.
Other items up for grabs include Simpson’s NCAA track and field medal, a 1974 Vince Lombardi award for setting the NFL rushing record with 2,003 yards, as well as a piano he owned and an autographed pH๏τo of the Hall of Famer alongside President Bill Clinton.
The most popular item seemed to be the Bible given to Simpson and inscribed by his close friend, the late Robert Kardashian, during his 1994 murder trial.
The estate’s executor, Malcom LaVergne, revealed that they, sadly, had to turn down Kim Kardashian’s $15,000 offer on the Bible her dad gifted Simpson, who died on April 10, 2024, because it was ‘too late to purchase it outside the auction.’
LaVergne revealed to TMZ that Kim’s team contacted him last month after learning some of Simpson’s personal effects were going up for auction.
This included a Bible, featuring a handwritten note inside, penned by Robert to Simpson. The inscription reads: ‘OJ, this book will help. God loves you and he will speak to you with his words. Read this book every day. God has a definite plan for your life. You are His child and He will use you again. I love you and God loves you. – Robert.’
Bids for the bible had reached $10,000 as of Friday evening.
While Simpson was never found guilty of murder, he was convicted of armed robbery in Nevada in 2008 and subsequently served nine years in prison despite being sentenced to 33.
