Davante Adams reveals how Sean McVay recruited him to the Rams after Jets release

Sean McVay is a certified football savant, and that was the difference for ex-Jets receiver Davante Adams.

Adams somewhat surprisingly signed with the Los Angeles Rams in free agency after they decided to move on from longtime star wide receiver Cooper Kupp.

“He’s breaking down every single clip,” Adams explained to reporters in his introductory press conference.

“It just shows how much ball means to him, how much of a priority I was for him and the rest of the guys here.”

Adams called McVay “aggressive” when asked to describe his new coach before explaining what the clips looked like.

“The first one was seven minutes, and then he sent another one that was like probably another two minutes where he’s just going through everything,” Adams said. “I thought he took that job to be on TV for a minute when I was watching that.”

Adams has yet to win a Super Bowl ring and will now join a strong roster that will be anchored by quarterback Matthew Stafford, whom the Rams re-signed rather than trade to the Giants or Raiders.

McVay, 39, has already won a Super Bowl as the Rams coach in 2022, led by Kupp and former star Odell Beckham Jr on the outside.

Perhaps McVay is looking at a similar tandem in 2025, as Puka Nacua has shown star ability while Adams could fill the explosive outside receiver role that Beckham did in their Super Bowl-winning season.

Adams was highly productive for two terrible teams in 2024, as he had his fifth straight 1,000-yard season in just 14 games split between the Raiders and Jets.

He was released this offseason by the Jets due to a mᴀssive cap hit that the Jets couldn’t absorb.

Adams was released alongside his longtime teammate, Aaron Rodgers, who has still not made a decision on where he will play next season.
