Micah Parsons brands ex-teammate DeMarcus Lawrence a ‘clown’ over stunning Dallas Cowboys swipe

Micah Parsons brands ex-teammate DeMarcus Lawrence a 'clown' over stunning Dallas Cowboys swipe

DeMarcus Lawrence left Dallas for Seattle because wanted to win a Super Bowl, and if his former Cowboys teammate and fellow defensive end Micah Parsons cared more about success than social media, then the newest member of the Seahawks might still be in Texas.

That was the message Lawrence had for Parsons in a social media exchange after signing a three-year, $42 million deal with the Seahawks that includes $18 million guaranteed.

Asked about his decision by Hawk Blogger’s Sean McGrath, Lawrence admitted he will continue to live in Dallas.

‘I made my home there, my family lives there,’ he said.

Lawrence then took a swipe at his former team: ‘I know for sure I’m not gonna win a Super Bowl there. So… yeah.’

Parsons responded to the video on X, writing: ‘This what rejection and envy look like! This some clown s***!’

But rather than ignoring the response, Lawrence turned the tables on Parsons, who has faced criticism for podcasting and his frequent use of social media.

‘Calling me a clown won’t change the fact that I told the truth,’ Lawrence wrote to Parsons on X. ‘Maybe if you spent less time tweeting and more time winning, I wouldn’t have left.’

Parsons and Lawrence were once feared bookends along the Cowboys’ defensive line, but appear to have turned on each other following a disappointing 7-10 finish in Dallas this season. Parsons had 12 sacks on the season despite playing just 13 games, while Lawrence had three quarterback takedowns before a foot injury ended his 2024 campaign.

Lawrence’s departure wasn’t a major surprise given the Cowboys’ current cap situation after the $240 million and $136 million deals awarded to quarterback Dak Prescott and wide receiver CeeDee Lamb, respectively, before the 2024 season.

Further complicating the Cowboys’ books is Parsons’ situation.

The feared pᴀss rusher is entering the final year of his contract after earning $24 million in 2025.

Parsons has never finished with fewer than 12 sacks in any of his four NFL seasons and could be seen as a potential trade candidate if the Cowboys are looking to move up in April’s draft.
