Moana: Live Action

First Trailer | Dwayne Johnson, Zendaya

Disney’s Moana: Live Action brings the beloved animated classic to life with visually stunning effects and a remarkable cast, featuring Dwayne Johnson returning as the legendary demigod Maui, and Zendaya as the adventurous and courageous Moana. The first trailer promises an epic and heartwarming retelling of the Polynesian legend, brimming with adventure, culture, and oceanic magic.

The trailer opens with a breathtaking aerial sH๏τ of the island of Motunui, the sun casting a golden glow over lush forests, serene beaches, and the vibrant daily life of the islanders. Moana (Zendaya) gazes out at the boundless ocean, her eyes filled with wonder and longing. Her grandmother’s soothing voice narrates: “The ocean is calling. You are chosen.”

We are given glimpses of Moana’s childhood, as she learns about her ancestors’ daring voyages across the seas and hears the tale of the demigod Maui (Dwayne Johnson). The ocean itself becomes a character, playfully interacting with Moana as a child and guiding her raft later when she sets sail on her courageous quest.

The familiar strains of the beloved soundtrack swell as we watch Moana venture beyond the safety of her island, determined to track down Maui and restore the heart of Te Fiti. The trailer transitions to an electrifying introduction of Maui, his magical tattoos brought to life with cutting-edge CGI. With his larger-than-life persona, Maui makes a grand entrance, delivering his signature line, “What can I say except you’re welcome!” while performing a powerful haka-style dance.

Action-packed sequences follow, showing Moana and Maui’s exhilarating journey across the ocean. The two form a humorous yet heartfelt bond as they bicker and rely on each other through storms, monster battles, and encounters with mythical creatures—such as the fearsome lava monster Te Kā.

Zendaya shines as Moana, imbuing the character with both strength and vulnerability as she grows into her role as a leader and savior of her people. In a powerful moment, she tells Maui, “I’m not just a girl from the island. I’m the one who will save it,” highlighting her determination and sense of destiny.

With its breathtaking visuals, beloved characters, and inspiring story, Moana: Live Action promises to capture the hearts of audiences, offering a fresh and thrilling take on a Disney favorite.
