DK Metcalf gets engaged to girlfriend Normani days after Steelers trade: ‘Hold that rock up, baby’

DK Metcalf continues to have a busy offseason.

Metcalf revealed that he got engaged to longtime girlfriend and R&B singer Normani during an introductory press conference with the Steelers on Thursday.

“Hold that rock up, baby,” Metcalf told his new fiancee while talking to reporters days after his trade from the Seahawks.

Metcalf, 27, added that he proposed to Normani, 28, on Wednesday in Houston with both of their families present.

He also opened up about his previous plans to propose.

“I tried to last year,” Metcalf said. “But she is a singer and her work kind of conflicted with the schedule so I just tried to take an approach to where a schedule didn’t matter.”

“I started sending flowers with a story and the last letter on the flower was ‘Will you marry me?’ and she said yes,” Metcalf added.

Metcalf has been in a relationship with Normani since 2022.

Metcalf’s engagement comes just days after he was dealt to Pittsburgh in a blockbuster trade Sunday, which saw the Steelers send off this year’s second-round draft pick to the Seahawks in exchange for the wideout.

The two-time Pro-Bowler also inked a five-year, $150 million extension with Pittsburgh.

Before the trade, Metcalf was a member of the Seahawks for the entirety of his six-year career, with the Ole Miss alum getting drafted by the team in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft.

Metcalf expressed his excitement to play in Pittsburgh after previously stating that he is “all-in” on his new team.

“Coach Tomlin, Mr. Omar [Kahn], and Mr. [Art] Rooney all hopped on the phone with me Sunday and it just felt homey and welcoming that they wanted to bring me to this historical organization,” Metcalf told reporters.

“Everything snowballed from there and brought me in front of you today.”
