Seahawks signing DeMarcus Lawrence to $42 million deal in NFL free agency bombshell

The Seahawks continued their busy offseason on Wednesday.

Seattle is set to sign defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence on a three-year, $42 million contract, according to multiple reports.

The deal includes $18 million guaranteed, NFL Network reported.

Lawrence spent his first 11 years in the league with the Cowboys after being a second-round selection in the 2014 draft.

It was an impressive run in Dallas that included four Pro Bowl appearances and back-to-back double-digit sack seasons in 2017 and ’18.

Since the 2018 season, he’s recorded 154 pressures.

Lawrence was off to a H๏τ start in 2024 with three sacks and 14 tackles before suffering a foot injury against the Giants in Week 4.

He did not play the rest of the seasons as the injury-riddled Cowboys finished 7-10 and missed the playoffs.

Overall, he racked up 61.5 sacks with 450 tackles during his long tenure with Dallas.

The move for the 32-year-old Lawrence essentially fills the void for Dre’Mont Jones, who was released last week.

Seattle has already retained linebacker Ernest Jones IV and defensive tackle Jarran Reed.

It’s been a busy past few days for Seattle, which traded quarterback Geno Smith to the Raiders last week and later agreed to a three-year, $100.5 million contract with a new signal-caller in Sam Darnold.

They also made sweeping changes to their receiving room, trading DK Metcalf to the Steelers and releasing Tyler Lockett.
