Aaron Rodgers’ patience in finding a new NFL team is reportedly affecting Russell Wilson’s search on the market.
Last month, the New York Jets announced they were parting ways with the veteran after a lackluster two-year stint. Since then, the Jets signed former Chicago Bears and Pittsburgh Steelers signal-caller Justin Fields to a two-year, $40million deal.
Furthermore, Sam Darnold also signed a three-year, $100.5m deal with the Seattle Seahawks after leading the Minnesota Vikings to a 14-3 season.
With the two biggest free-agent quarterbacks off the market, the two veterans remain the best available options.
A report from Bleacher Report NFL Insider James Palmer indicated that Wilson’s future may depend on Rodgers’ decision.
Speaking on Underdog Fantasy Sports, Palmer stated that the Steelers and New York Giants appear to be the two finalists to acquire Rodgers.

‘And Rodgers’ decision is directly tied to Russell Wilson’s future,’ Palmer shared. ‘If Aaron Rodgers decides to go to the Steelers, look for Wilson to land in New York with Brian Daboll and company.’
‘Now if Rodgers ends up with the Giants, does Russell Wilson go back to the Pittsburgh Steelers? We’ll see, they’ve kept [the] dialogue open.”
After his tenure with the Denver Broncos was cut short behind back-to-back losing campaigns, Wilson got picked up by Pittsburgh and put alongside Fields as rotating pilots in their offense.
Unfortunately, after losing their sixth postseason game in a row, tied for the longest active streak in the league, the franchise has seen their longest playoff drought since 1972, not having won a playoff game in eight years.
Fields, 25, appeared in 10 games and completed 106 of 161 attempts for 1,106 yards and five touchdowns. He also rushed for 289 yards and found the end zone five times.

On the other hand, Wilson made 11 appearances, 214 completions for 336 attempts, and tallied 2,482 yards for 16 touchdowns. Wilson did find as much success in rushing with 11 carries for 43 yards and two touchdowns.
Despite their collective efforts, the Steelers ended their season with a four-game losing streak and a 10-7 record before falling to the Baltimore Ravens in the Wild Card round.
Meanwhile, Rodgers completed 63 percent of his pᴀss attempts for 3,897 yards, 28 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions after missing all of last season with an Achilles tear.
