Sauce Gardner weighs in on Aaron Rodgers-Vikings rumors: ‘Might be No. 1’

Sauce Gardner has weighed in on the latest Aaron Rodgers rumors.

Rodgers, Gardner’s Jets teammate for two years, has emerged as a “dark horse” quarterback option for the Vikings now that Sam Darnold is unlikely to return to Minnesota, NFL Network reported on Saturday.

“If Aaron goes to the Vikings, he might be #1 in all QB stats,” Gardner posted Sunday on X, along with a crying emoji.

Rodgers failed to meet expectations during his Jets tenure, finishing last year at 5-12 and missing nearly the entire previous season due to a torn Achilles.

And the new Jets regime — head coach Aaron Glenn and general manager Darren Mougey — decided to cut Rodgers as one of their first decisions in charge.

Rodgers has since emerged as perhaps the biggest domino in the free agent quarterback market and has been linked to the Giants, who are in desperate need of a quarterback.

The Giants view the 41-year-old Rodgers as a viable option as a player for one year, The Post’s Paul Schwartz previously reported.

The Vikings are in an interesting position at quarterback.

They have J.J. McCarthy, whom they drafted at No. 10 overall last year and who missed all of last season due to a knee injury, already on the roster.

They opted not to place the franchise tag on Darnold, who enjoyed a career renaissance in his first year in Minnesota last year, allowing him to hit the open market.

He is expected to receive heavy interest from the Seahawks, according to The Athletic, who just traded quarterback Geno Smith to the Raiders.

Rodgers signing with the Vikings would be eerily similar to Brett Favre’s path.

Favre, Rodgers’ predecessor with the Packers, had stints with the Jets and Vikings to end his career after spending 17 years in Green Bay.

Rodgers spent 18 years with the Packers and already had his Jets stint — could the Vikings be next?
