Giants re-sign punter Jamie Gillan on three-year, $10 million contract

Giants re-sign punter Jamie Gillan on three-year, $10 million contract

The Giants decided not to punt on Jamie Gillan.

Two days before the start of free agency, the Giants re-signed their veteran punter, The Post confirmed.

It’s a three-year contract worth up to $10.2 million with incentives, according to NFL Network.

The exact structure of Gillan’s deal is not known, but it ranks as the seventh-highest among NFL punters in terms of max value.

It includes $4 million guaranteed, per ESPN.

Nicknamed “The Scottish Hammer,” Gillan, 27, has been the punter for the entire Joe Schoen-Brian Daboll era after he was on the Bills practice squad when both of those decision makers were in Buffalo.

He averaged a career-low 43.7 yards per punt, but with a career-best 48.2 percent of his boots inside the 20-yard line last season.

Gillan’s previous contract, signed after the 2022 season, was a two-year, $4 million deal. The Giants decided not to mess with the chemistry of their kicking operation.

It appears the Giants are set to run it back for a fourth season with the same three core special-teamers.

Long snapper Casey Kreiter re-signed a one-year deal last week, and kicker Graham Gano remains on the roster despite speculation that he could become a salary cap casualty (to save $3.6 million) since his once-automatic performance has nose-dived over the past two seasons.

Gillan doubles as the holder for Gano.

Other top punters who are scheduled to hit the market when free agency begins Monday include the Commanders’ Tress Way, Cowboys’ Brian Anger, Panthers’ Johnny Hekker, Chargers’ JK Scott and Bills’ Sam Martin.
