Mike Gesicki signs new $25.5million Cincinnati Bengals deal amid franchise's offseason uncertainty

The Cincinnati Bengals have reportedly re-signed тιԍнт end Mike Gesicki to a three-year, $25.5million deal, taking the pressure off the organization to commit one less player to stay in town for multiple years.

Of the several high-profile moves that the Bengals are expected to make this offseason, re-signing Gesicki was a priority, but not one that would make the most waves around the NFL.

Gesicki being back in Cincinnati comes a year after his 665-yard season, a career best, per Jordan Schultz.

Cincinnati’s top priorities are signing Ja’Marr Chase to a long-term extension, with Bengals de facto general manager Duke Tobin saying the franchise hopes to make the wide receiver the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history.

The Bengals also allowed star defensive lineman Trey Hendrickson to explore his options via trade, with him expressing a desire to stay in Cincinnati.

Last month, the Bengals placed their franchise tag on Tee Higgins for the second straight season.

Since the start of the 2019 season, seven other places have been franchised tagged two years in a row. Six eventually got long-term deals completed.

Higgins, 26, has already played out his one year under the franchise tag, which paid him $21.8million in salary. This year’s tag would guarantee him $26.18m – the average of the top five salaries for wide receivers last season.

The Bengals now have until July 15 to sign Higgins to a new contract or the tag’s pay will be locked in.

Gesicki, 29, will now have roots in Ohio after bouncing around the NFL for three years. From 2022 to 2024, the тιԍнт end spent one season each with Miami, New England, and Cincinnati.

Now, the Bengals will be active in making sure all of their desired pieces all into place.
