Chiefs trade All-Pro lineman Joe Thuney to Bears as team reshuffles after Super Bowl debacle

The Chiefs will look different in 2025.

The team has agreed to trade four-time All-Pro offensive lineman Joe Thuney to the Bears for a 2026 fourth-round pick, NFL Network first reported Wednesday morning.

Thuney, 32, has been a staple of Kansas City’s offensive line since signing a five-year, $80 million deal before the 2021 season.

Thuney was a member of two of the Chiefs’ Super Bowl-winning teams and had won two others with the Patriots, who drafted him in the third round in 2016.

Thuney, who has one year left on his contract, moved from guard to tackle last year as the Chiefs dealt with numerous injuries on an offensive line that was ultimately exposed by the Eagles in Super Bowl 2025.

Philadelphia sacked Patrick Mahomes six times — the most of his career — on their way to a 40-22 victory.

The trade is the second one in as many days for the Bears, who are prioritizing rebuilding their offensive line in front of rookie QB Caleb Williams.

Chicago traded a sixth-round pick to the Rams on Tuesday to acquire another interior lineman in Jonah Jackson.

Bears GM Ryan Poles worked in the Chiefs front office for 12 years before being hired by Chicago in 2022.
