There’s no escaping the mᴀssive caveats of any Giants QB option

There’s no escaping the mᴀssive caveats of any Giants QB option

Amid all the uncertainty, there are two certainties for the Giants:

• They know there is no perfect solution to their desperate search for their next starting quarterback. With every option out there, a “yeah, but …” can be affixed to the name of the player under consideration.

• They know they must supply head coach Brian Daboll with higher quality than what was available to him the past two seasons, fully cognizant that unless the quarterback room is upgraded — significantly — the offense will continue to flounder, Daboll will fail to get the franchise on the right track and that will be it, as far as his time with the Giants. Of course, that undoubtedly would also signal the end of Joe Schoen’s tenure as the general manager.

The Giants see the same lists of available players as everyone else and understand there is an unfortunate bleakness to all this. They must consider Aaron Rodgers because they see him as the best quarterback out there, after the Matthew Stafford pursuit proved fruitless. In any logical world, would anyone ever think this version of 41-year old Rodgers — about to be cast aside by the Jets — and a marriage with the Giants would be desirable? No chance. This is where they are though, having to scrape away the negatives in order to reveal whatever positives exist beneath the surface.
