30 Days of Night (2007) is a horror-thriller film directed by David Slade, based on the comic book series of the same name by Steve Niles and Ben Templesmith.

Set in the remote town of Barrow, Alaska, the story centers on a unique and terrifying scenario: each winter, Barrow experiences a month-long polar night, leaving the town in complete darkness for 30 days. During this extended night, a group of vampires, led by the ruthless Marlow (Danny Huston), descend upon the town, seeing it as the perfect hunting ground where they can feed without fear of sunlight.

Josh Hartnett stars as Sheriff Eben Oleson, who, along with his estranged wife, Stella (Melissa George), and a small group of survivors, must fight to stay alive as the vampires systematically terrorize and decimate the town. The vampires in 30 Days of Night are depicted as monstrous, fast, and vicious, with an insatiable hunger and no compᴀssion for their human prey.

This portrayal of vampires as brutal, animalistic creatures reinvigorates the vampire genre, moving away from the romanticized vampire tropes in favor of sheer horror.
