Philadelphia Eagles line up stunning Myles Garrett move and could lose Super Bowl heroes for Browns star

After winning Super Bowl LIX, it appears the Eagles now have the chance to build themselves an empire. What better way to solidify that than adding one of the best players in the league.

Earlier this month, the Eagles dominated the Kansas City Chiefs 40-22 in a game that was lopsided from the start before KC scored two garbage time touchdowns to make it seem less of a demolition than it actually was.

Part of that was thanks to the immense pressure the Philadelphia pᴀss rush was able to put on Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes – despite the fact that defensive coordinator Vic Fangio didn’t call a single blitz all game long.

So you might wonder how the Eagles defense could get any better? Simple: add Myles Garrett.

Garrett, who plays for the Cleveland Browns, has demanded a trade as he’s seemingly uninterested in continuing with the franchise which seems to be in a constant state of re-building.

According to The Athletic’s Dianna Russini, Garrett might have a home waiting for him in Pennsylvania if Eagles general manager Howie Roseman gets his way.

‘Here’s what some people are saying right now: Howie is willing to move on from some of these guys because he’s looking to make a big swing. And that big swing would be for Myles Garrett,’ Russini said.

‘Some of these guys that you think are a sure thing may not be a sure thing to return to Philly.’

The Eagles already have a heralded pᴀss rush of Milton Williams, Jordan Davis, and Jalen Carter alongside outside linebackers Nolan Smith and Josh Sweat.

But the addition of Garrett would solidify the Eagles as the top pᴀss rush in the league by far.

Garrett has even voiced his interest in making a move to the Super Bowl champions.

‘It would be a hell of a destination,’ Garrett said of Philadelphia during Super Bowl week.

There’s just one catch: the Browns really really don’t want to move Garrett. Browns general manager Andrew Berry told reporters on Tuesday at the NFL Combine in Indianapolis, ‘We can’t imagine a situation where not having Myles is best for the Browns.’

Berry told reporters that they could ‘put [it] on the record’ that he’d even reject a deal for Garrett if it involved multiple first-round picks.

While you can understand where the Browns are coming from in not wanting to move on from someone who is clearly their best player, Garrett’s stance is pretty easy to grasp as well.

Since being selected first overall in the 2017 NFL Draft out of Texas A&M, Garrett has only been to the playoffs twice in eight seasons. Every other season has had a losing record.

That includes his rookie year, when the Browns became the second team in NFL history to go 0-16 – joining the 2008 Detroit Lions.

Garrett was named the 2023 NFL Defensive Player of the Year, has been put on the All-Pro team six times (four-time First-teamer, two-time Second-teamer), and was named to six Pro Bowls.
