NFL network brutally trolls Patrick Mahomes after quarterback's desperate combine plea

The NFL Network has resurfaced Patrick Mahomes’ horrid 40-yard dash from his 2017 combine performance against the plea from the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback to not show the footage.

Mahomes posted to social media last February that ‘As the combine starts this week! All I ask is that @nflnetwork doesn’t use my 40 overlay anymore.’

For the second straight year, all Mahomes’ message has done is given the NFL Network content, and they have shown it.

This year, they overlaid the fastest 40-yard dash time from Thursdays’ participants against Mahomes from eight years ago.

Among the defensive ends and linebackers, the quickest is former Tennessee star James Pearce, who completed the drill in 4.47 seconds despite being much heavier than Mahomes.

Mahomes, who is trailing behind the figure of Pearce the entire race, finishes in 4.80 seconds. That might not seem like a lot outside of the NFL Combine, but in real time, it’s quite the difference.

Mahomes’ 40-yard dash time did not stop the Kansas City Chiefs from trading up 17 spots to No 10 overall to pick the now-three-time Super Bowl winner.

His speed in the drill has been comparable with how Mahomes has used his feet in the NFL, displaying speed when he needs to, but more so relying on his quick-thinking and arm to win games.

Mahomes’ now teammate, Xavier Worthy, set the NFL Combine record last year for the fastest 40-yard dash time ever in 4.21 seconds.

That barely defeated John Ross from the 2017 combine, who oddly was drafted one spot ahead of Mahomes.

Mahomes’ social-media post will will in infamy and likely be replayed by NFL Network every year until he retires as his on-field legend grows.
