Kansas City Chiefs star Harrison Butker was granted a special trip to the White House to meet president Donald Trump on Thursday – one year on from the outrage over his controversial ‘homemaker’ speech.
Butker, who visited Trump in the wake of Kansas City’s crushing defeat at the Super Bowl earlier this month, sparked fury last year after suggesting women should prioritize being stay-at-home mothers and criticizing then-president Joe Biden’s pro-abortion stance in a divisive commencement speech at Benedictine College.
Despite their recent humbling against the Philadelphia Eagles, the Chiefs’ star kicker was seen meeting Trump in the Oval Office on Thursday after heading to Washington.
It is currently unclear why the 78-year-old specifically invited Butker and what the pair discussed on his visit to the White House.
More to follow.
