Patrick Mahomes debuted a new haircut following the Chiefs’ Super Bowl loss, and his barber has a theory as to why the quarterback made the switch.
Known for his long, curly Mohawk, the pᴀsser recently emerged with a much shorter look on top and a more subtle fade on the sides.
And while he can’t be completely sure, Mahomes’ barber, DeJuan Bonds, thinks Kansas City’s disappointing end to the season could have prompted the drastic change.
‘I just think with the end of the season, frustration maybe, like, ‘You know what, I’m done. It’s time for a new look, change,’ and I think that’s pretty much what prompted his sudden urge,’ Bonds told Fox News Digital.
‘It probably was a little bit [frustration], then there was like, ‘Hey you know, it’s time for a new look.”
According to the barber, who has cut Mahomes’ locks since 2017, the haircut could have actually been even more drastic.

Following the 40-22 loss to the Eagles, Mahomes told Bonds to ‘cut it off,’ though the barber wisely didn’t take his word for it.
‘A lot of times, when someone says, ‘Cut it off,’ they don’t really know,’ he said. ‘They’re just saying something. Me, as an experienced barber, I know that ‘cut it off’ really don’t mean ‘cut it off.”
Ultimately, Mahomes – who now has three children with his wife, Brittany – was going for a more ‘mature’ look, his barber said.

Mahomes was seen with the new look on Monday night as he cheered on his former college, Texas Tech, during a men’s basketball game.
The 29-year-old was seen wearing a Red Raiders t-shirt and clapping his hands as he got out of his courtside seat.
Unfortunately, Texas Tech lost 69-61 to Houston.
The outing for Mahomes came two weeks after one of the worst performances in his career during Super Bowl LIX.
While the Chiefs had hoped to pull off a historic three-peat, Mahomes coughed up three turnovers – including a pick-six to the Eagles’ Cooper DeJean that gave Philly a 17-0 lead.
Ultimately, Mahomes took six sacks as well, and was completely frazzled by an Eagles defense which shut out the two-time defending champions for nearly three quarters.
