Shedeur Sanders makes big NFL Scouting Combine decision

Possible top overall pick Shedeur Sanders won’t throw at this week’s NFL Scouting Combine, according to the NFL Network.

The Colorado quarterback – who starred with the Buffaloes the past two seasons under his father, Hall of Famer Deion Sanders – is expected only to interview with teams in Indianapolis, Ian Rapoport reported Sunday.

But that doesn’t mean Sanders won’t throw at all prior to the April draft, where he and Cam Ward are expected to be the first QBs selected.

Instead, Sanders will work out and throw at Colorado’s pro day, although no date has been set for that.

At the Boulder campus, Sanders will be able to throw to several former Colorado teammates.

Sanders would be just the latest elite quarterback prospect to opt not to throw at the combine, following in the recent footsteps of Caleb Williams and Jayden Daniels before last year’s draft.

Like Sanders, they focused on the pro days at their respective colleges before Williams went No. 1 overall to the Chicago Bears and Daniels went next, second overall, to the Washington Commanders.

Sanders started for four seasons in college.

The first two seasons were at Jackson State, where he played for Sanders, before the duo left for Colorado.

Sanders threw for 4,134 yards, 37 touchdowns and 10 interceptions as a senior.

He came in eighth in the Heisman Trophy voting, losing out to Colorado teammate Travis Hunter, the cornerback/wide receiver who is also likely to be a high pick in April.

Ward spent last season at Miami and is believed by many to be the favorite to be the top overall pick in the draft, which will begin April 24.
