Shedeur Sanders makes major NFL Combine decision amid arm strength concerns

Shedeur Sanders has made a major decision regarding his NFL Combine participation just days before the event kicks off in Indianapolis.

Sanders, who is expected to be the first or second quarterback drafted in April, has certain analysts concerned by his middling arm strength.

And according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Sanders will not throw at the Combine this upcoming week, instead focusing on his interviews with teams.

The Colorado quarterback will throw at his school’s Pro Day afterwards, with his former teammates present.

Meanwhile, fellow top quarterback prospect Cam Ward was reportedly unsure if he would throw at the Combine, the AP reported last week.

Ward, a former star for Miami, does plan to throw at the Hurricanes’ Pro Day.

ESPN’s Field Yates ranked him behind Ward, and said ‘he doesn’t have a cannon of an arm,’ while noting his accuracy and ‘big-game mettle.’

Pro Football Focus analyst Nick Akridge, meanwhile, added that the pᴀsser’s ‘arm strength isn’t elite.

‘He lacks velocity, clearly visible on downfield pᴀsses that require extra juice to beat closing windows,’ he said.

Nonetheless, Sanders is expected to be taken early in the first round after a tremendous couple of seasons at Colorado after transferring from Jackson State.

He completed 74 percent of his pᴀsses last season and threw 37 touchdowns while the Buffaloes went 9-4 and flirted with a Playoff berth.

The first round of the NFL Draft is on April 24.
