Travis Kelce has already decided his status for Chiefs ahead of 2025 season, says brother Jason

With retirement rumors hovering over Travis Kelce’s future, older brother Jason insists the Chiefs тιԍнт end has already decided his next step.

After getting dominated by Jason’s former team, the Philadelphia Eagles, in the Super Bowl, speculations about Travis’ future began circulating as some fans operated under the ᴀssumption that he was stepping away from the football field.

Speaking on The Steam Room podcast with Charles Barkley and Ernie Johnson, Jason addressed his brother’s thought process and concluded that a decision had been made.

‘I think he probably, in his heart, already knows what he wants to do,’ Jason shared. ‘That’s the reality of it.’

‘I’m sure we will talk about it. We’ve already talked about it a little bit, and I’m sure he’s going to go through a process of figuring that out,’ Jason told Barkley and Johnson. ‘We’re very similar people, but we also have different ways of thinking about things.’

‘And sometimes I can way overanalyze situations, and my brother has this way of being like, ‘Hey man, you want to play or you don’t want to play.”

‘He’ll say something like that where it’s just like, don’t worry about all of these minor things,’ Jason continued. ‘And nine times out of ten, he’s right about all of it.’

In his tenth year with Kansas City, Travis’ numbers have fallen significantly from previous campaigns. While he tallied 97 receptions, four more than last year, the тιԍнт end saw career-low yards (823) and touchdowns (3).

Philadelphia held Kelce to four receptions out of six targets and a paltry 39 yards. They also sacked quarterback Patrick Mahomes six times in the defensive masterpiece in the Super Bowl.

Earlier this month, The Athletic’s Nate Taylor reported that the Chiefs want Kelce to return for another season. However, he would have to be okay with not being the focal point of the offense and become a role player.

The three-time Super Bowl champion addressed the whispers in the latest installment of the New Heights podcast.

‘I’m gonna take some time to figure it out,’ said Kelce. ‘And I think I owe it to my teammates that if I do come back that it’s gonna be a wholehearted decision and I’m not half-a**ing it, and I’m fully here for them.

‘I think I can play, it’s just whether or not I’m motivated or it’s the best decision for me as a man, as a human, as a person to take on all that responsibility.’
