Aaron Rodgers reveals wish list for next NFL team after Jets exit

Aaron Rodgers reveals wish list for next NFL team after Jets exit

Before Aaron Rodgers hits the open market for the first time in his two-decade NFL career, the soon-to-be former New York Jet has made his priorities clear for what he wants in his next team.

Rodgers has never been unattached to a franchise since being drafted by the Green Bay Packers in 2005.

His lone team switch came two years ago in the blockbuster trade that sent him from Wisconsin to the Big Apple. Rodgers is looking for two things in his next home, per TMZ.

‘If they want you… if they got a good team,’ Rodgers said.

The 41-year-old quarterback is looking or a new home after new Jets head coach Aaron Glenn and other New York representatives made it clear to Rodgers that he is no longer wanted by the team earlier this month.

Rodgers added he was ‘enjoying the sunshine’ on the west coast, giving a third want for his next home.

The Rodgers sweepstakes is not expected to be a robust one, nor is there a clubhouse favorite heading into free agency.

Rodgers will turn 42 in the middle of the next NFL season, with few teams willing to devote their immediate future to an extremely old quarterback.

The few franchises who could be interested in Rodgers would hope for a similar effect to Tom Brady’s fifth-decade move from the Patriots to the Buccaneers that won Tampa Bay a Super Bowl in 2021.

Several teams are looking for their next signal caller, with other options in the NFL Draft or younger quarterbacks in free agency possibly being more appealing.

There is also the possibility of trading for an incumbent starter from another franchise.

Among the few teams expected to be interested in Rodgers are the Colts, Jaguars, and Raiders due to not having a top-four pick in the draft and having a glaring need at the position.

One more dark horse that Rodgers could next call home is the Miami Dolphins. Starter Tua Tagovailoa has a history of concussions and after missing the postseason, it is not inconceivable that a blockbuster deal to bring in Rodgers could be on the table.
