New York Jets star 'robbed at gunpoint' after being followed for 30 miles by gang of thieves

A New York Jets star was reportedly robbed at gunpoint in broad daylight last week, in what cops described as a ‘targeted’ attack by a gang of thieves.

The police are hunting the ‘group of unidentified males’, who are believed to have followed the NFL star, and one other person, for more than 30 miles – from Manhattan all the way to Windmill Pond in New Jersey.

On Saturday morning, the attackers were seen leaving a dark SUV before stealing money and personal possessions in the alleged armed robbery. They then fled the scene.

A neighbor told NBC New York that one of the victims plays for the New York Jets but the idenтιтy of the NFL star remains unknown. Windmill Pond is only a short drive from the Jets’ training facility.

The cops are asking witnesses to come forward after the latest in a spate of shocking incidents involving sports stars.

Joe Burrow, Travis Kelce, Patrick Mahomes, Luka Doncic, soccer player Olivier Giroud and NBA star Bobby Portis Jr are among those to targeted by thieves recently.

On Tuesday, seven illegal immigrants, purportedly from a Chilean theft group, were charged with stealing valuables worth more than $2million in a series of high-profile burglaries.

No arrests have yet been announced over this latest incident.

‘On Saturday, February 15th, at approximately 8:00 am, the Morristown Bureau of Police responded to several 911 calls reporting an alleged armed robbery in the Windmill Pond section of town,’ cops said in a statement.

‘A witness reported seeing a group of unidentified males exit a dark-colored SUV and rob two individuals in a second vehicle at gunpoint. The suspects allegedly took money and personal items before fleeing the scene. No injuries were reported.

‘The Bureau’s Investigative Unit immediately responded and began taking steps to advance the investigation, including conducting victim and witness interviews and canvᴀssing the area for available surveillance footage.

‘At this time, it is believed this was an isolated incident, as it appears the victims were targeted and followed from Manhattan.’
