Tyrod Taylor once again could find himself as the oldest quarterback in the room.
Only this time, he might find himself as the starter, too.
When Taylor signed a two-year free agent contract with the Jets last offseason, it marked just the second time in the last 10 seasons that he was the younger of the top two quarterbacks on his team’s roster.
The 35-year-old backup to 41-year-old Aaron Rodgers laughed in December when I called him “the Jets’ younger quarterback.” It was a welcome change in dynamic for Taylor, who mentored Browns rookie Baker Mayfield in 2018, Chargers rookie Justin Herbert in 2020, Texans rookie Davis Mills in 2021 and Giants youngster Daniel Jones in 2022-23 from No. 2 on the depth chart.
