NFL insider reveals team Aaron Rodgers could join next amid 'quarterback dominos'

Aaron Rodgers’ NFL future could soon become clearer as the LA Rams weigh up what to do with quarterback Matthew Stafford.

The quarterback, 37, is due $35million this upcoming season, though none of it is guaranteed, and ESPN’s Adam Schefter said on his latest podcast episode that the two sides are working on a new deal.

And while both the Rams and Stafford reportedly want to continue their partnership, Schefter said that Rodgers would be ‘thrilled’ with the idea of playing for the NFC West squad if given the opportunity.

The insider noted that the situation between the Rams and Stafford ‘could change very quickly,’ which could make Rodgers a serious option for the Super Bowl LVI champions if ‘quarterback dominoes’ start to fall.

Rodgers, after just 18 games with the Jets, was informed that the team would be moving on from him under the new regime of head coach Aaron Glenn and GM Darren Mougey.

The team went just 5-12 last season in what turned out to be a disastrous year for Gang Green.

Nonetheless, the quarterback put up decent counting stats with the Jets (3,897 yards, 28 touchdowns) and reportedly wants to continue playing into his age-41 season.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport said last week that Rodgers was not done playing, though he expressed doubt that he’d want to be a ‘bridge’ for a team unlikely to make the playoffs.

‘If it were up to him, with a perfect spot, he wants to play,’ Rapoport added.

Stafford, meanwhile, performed well in the playoffs before the Rams narrowly lost in the divisional round to the eventual champion Eagles.

The Giants, who are also in the market for a quarterback after releasing Daniel Jones midseason, have also been linked with Stafford.

Big Blue hired his brother-in-law, Chad Hall, as their ᴀssistant quarterbacks coach last week, and Schefter pointed out their relation to one another in reporting the news.

However, he later told Pat Leonard ‘there is no way in hell’ the Giants would trade their No. 3 overall pick for the pá´€sser.

Rodgers won’t be officially released until June 1, but he is allowed to talk to other teams after the Jets announced their breakup with him.
