Mac McClung needed just one round to shock fans and win his third consecutive NBA Slam Dunk Contest.
McClung, 26, opened Saturday’s NBA Slam Dunk Contest in San Francisco with a bang, as he jumped over a KIA sedan into a reverse slam for his first dunk of the night en route to his third consecutive win in the event.
All five judges gave McClung’s dunk 50 points, amounting to a perfect score in the Slam Dunk Contest.
The dunk’s concept of jumping over a car is a tribute to longtime NBA high flyer Blake Griffin, who completed a similar slam fourteen years prior.
Magic guard Mac McClung dunks over a car which helped lead him to a win and a three-peat in the NBA Slam Dunk Contes on Feb. 15, 2025 in San Francisco.
Griffin’s dunk ultimately led to him being the winner of the 2011 Slam Dunk Contest.
Nevertheless, McClung, who scored four perfect dunks in Saturday’s contest, jumped over the highest point of the vehicle, whereas Griffin jumped over the hood of a similar car.
