The LA Rams could trade Matthew Stafford to the New York Giants and replace him with Aaron Rodgers, Colin Cowherd has sensationally claimed.
Stafford’s future in Los Angeles appears uncertain after his wife Kelly publicly hit out at the Rams last week for putting his teammate and good friend Cooper Kupp on the trading block.
‘My husband wants to win. He’s not trying to put a team in a bad situation,’ Kelly said on her ‘The Morning After’ podcast. ‘I will say the trading away of Cooper, I’m confused… because we were one play away from going to the NFC Championship, and I think if we go, win win.’
According to Fox Sports host Cowherd, Rams officials have grown ‘tired’ of Stafford’s outspoken wife speaking out in the media, meaning they are ready to let him go almost three years since handing him a six-year, $160million contract extension.
‘The Rams like Matt Stafford but they’re tiring of the constant quarterback talk, his wife saying things publicly,’ he said on his ‘The Herd’ show. ‘They’re not real happy with Cooper Kupp going public with something they tried to keep quiet [looking to trade him].

The quarterback’s Rams exit this offseason could set up a potential move for Aaron Rodgers

‘They’re kind of over Cooper Kupp and with that a little bit Matt Stafford. They like him, but they don’t want to restructure his deal and give him a big contract.’
Cowherd then named the Giants as a potential landing spot for the 37-year-old, who just finished his fourth season in LA – claiming New York chiefs are plotting a move for him in the offseason.
‘Meanwhile the Giants do not like the quarterback [draft] class, and Brian Daboll, the head coach, and Joe Schoen, the GM, they’ve gotta win or they’ll be fired by Thanksgiving,’ the sportscaster said. ‘So they are going to make a move, I believe, on Matt Stafford.’
The Rams will hope to take the Giants’ No. 3 draft pick in exchange for Stafford, Cowherd revealed, before searching for a ‘one to two-year rental quarterback’ themselves.
And he believes Rodgers, whose New York Jets departure was finally confirmed on Thursday, would be the perfect option given Michael LaFleur, the younger brother of Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur, is offensive coordinator in LA.
‘Hear me out, Aaron needs a rehab,’ Cowherd argued. ‘Packers got better without him, his image, big advertisers not interested, Jets was a mess… he needs a rehab. Got a house in Malibu, west coast guy.
‘In Aaron Rodgers’ last 10 games last year, he was good. And remember, that was with a third-tier coaching staff. Now he gets [Sean] McVay, an established O-line and an excellent young defense.
‘I believe Aaron is craving infrastructure, stability, an organization he respects, organizational excellence.’

Rodgers is officially out of the New York Jets after two nightmare seasons with the franchise
Rodgers’ exit in New York means the Jets face $49m in ᴅᴇᴀᴅ money as new head coach Aaron Glenn tries to rebuild the beleaguered franchise.
As for the quarterback, who is known for being fairly outspoken himself, his future in the game is unclear from here.
Rodgers has, at times, hinted he could retire after the season ended but on other occasions said he’d like to play on in New York.
‘Last week we met with Aaron and shared that our intention was to move in a different direction at quarterback,’ Glenn said in a joint statement with new GM Darren Mougey while announcing his departure.
‘It was important to have this discussion now to provide clarity and enable each of us the proper time to plan for our respective futures.
‘We want to thank him for the leadership, pᴀssion, and dedication he brought to the organization and wish him success moving forward.’
