Jason Kelce reveals Barstool’s Super Bowl team got sick on ‘norovirus oysters’ in New Orleans

Jason Kelce has revealed Barstool Sports staffers ‘all got sick’ at the Super Bowl after eating oysters tainted with norovirus in New Orleans.

The US Food and Drug Administration has issued a recall for oysters that were harvested in Louisiana and distributed to multiple states over the past month amid fears of potential norovirus contamination.

An estimated 191 cases of norovirus linked to the oysters have already been reported, and Kelce says Barstool employees made up part of that number last week.

The former Philadelphia Eagles center, who was in New Orleans for Sunday’s game, told younger brother Travis on their New Heights podcast: ‘There was an oyster recall while we were down there. So we didn’t eat any of the oysters.

‘All of Barstool got sick, they were all getting the norovirus from the oysters.’

Travis then said: ‘That’s unfortunate.’

Jason headed to the Big Easy last week to support both his former team and little brother as Travis and the Kansas City Chiefs locked horns with the Eagles.

It was Philadelphia who prevailed on the night in dominant fashion, with the eventual 40-22 scoreline flattering a Kansas City team that was outclassed at the Superdome.

Travis failed to have any real impact on the game as the Chiefs missed out on a famous three-peat, before revealing on Wednesday that he is now weighing up the possibility of retirement.

The 35-year-old said to his older brother on their podcast: ‘I’m gonna take some time to figure it out. And I think I owe it to my teammates that if I do come back that it’s gonna be a wholehearted decision and I’m not half-a**ing it, and I’m fully here for them.

‘I think I can play, it’s just whether or not I’m motivated or it’s the best decision for me as a man, as a human, as a person to take on all that responsibility.’

Jason, who retired himself last year after 13 seasons with the Eagles, told him: ‘It’s frustrating when you’re getting older in your career and you know that that’s becoming harder and harder to do, and more and more grueling to go through. So take your time, obviously get away from everything for a while.’
