Kelly Stafford has not minced her words regarding the NFL uncertainty surrounding her husband, Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford.
In a post shared Monday on Instagram, Kelly referenced a “blurry” future in a caption that accompanied two fuzzy images of the couple that has been married since 2015.
“Future might be blurry but the present is always clear with you,” Kelly’s full caption read.
Stafford, 37, has been at the center of trade buzz following the Rams’ Divisional Round ouster in January to the eventual Super Bowl champion Eagles.
Although he intends to play next season, it remains to be seen if it will be with an ever-evolving Rams team that intends to trade veteran wide receiver Cooper Kupp.
Kupp, 31, and Stafford won a Super Bowl with the Rams in February 2022 in the quarterback’s first season with the team.
Kelly addressed the ongoing trade chatter on a recent episode of her “Morning After” podcast, stating it’s been upsetting to see the mounting speculation.
“I will say, the trading away of Cooper, I am a little confused because we were one play away from the NFC Championship and I think if we go, we win,” she said.
“… And there’s now talk about trading your quarterback away. I don’t get it.”
Although the Staffords and their four daughters have called Los Angeles home for nearly four years, Kelly is not opposed to “an adventure.”
“Who’s to say I am not going to fall in love with another city?… We want to be here, but I am not scared of going elsewhere and I don’t think he is, either,” she said.
Buzz has been building over the idea of Stafford potentially taking his talents to the Giants, who released Daniel Jones in November.
That speculation intensified Monday with the hiring of Kelly’s brother, Chad Hall, as an ᴀssistant quarterbacks coach.
Despite the current haziness, Stafford is forecasting a future where he’s still competing for championships.
“I just want to keep playing good football,” Stafford told Forbes. “I love competing. Obviously getting a chance to make runs in the playoffs, competing for Lombardi trophies is what it’s all about.”
