Revealed: The surprisingly low amount each Eagles player will get as a bonus after winning the Super Bowl

If the Lombardi Trophy and bragging rights weren’t reward enough for winning the Super Bowl, the stars of the Philadelphia Eagles are also set to pocket a cash bonus.

The Eagles are still soaring high in the aftermath of their 40-22 demolition of the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX down in New Orleans on Sunday.

But the extra check they’re set to cash for crushing their rivals’ three-peat hopes is surprisingly low for freshly-crowned Super Bowl champions.

Per the NFL’s 2020 Collective Bargaining Agreement, each member of the Super Bowl-winning team receives a $171,000 bonus, Adam Schefter reported Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Chiefs stars, including Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes, take home an extra $96,000 just for making it to the big game.

While the figure for hoisting the Lombardi Trophy seems relatively low – compared to the multi-million contracts of NFL players, anyway – it is an increase on the last two years.

In 2023, when these two teams last met on the NFL’s biggest stage, the victorious Chiefs took home an extra $157,000 and the Eagles were handed $82,000 for their defeat.

This year’s winning bonus is also a $7,000 increase over the per-player amount the Kansas City Chiefs received last year when they defeated the San Francisco 49ers.

The bonuses also come on top of the $77,000 both teams’ players already received for winning their respective conferences.

Meanwhile, some Eagles stars have banked far more than their $171,000 Super Bowl prize. Saquon Barkley, for example, took his total to $1.5 million thanks to his role in the humiliation of the Chiefs.

The running back, who capped a historic season that saw him snap former Broncos star Terrell Davis’ single-season record of 2,476 rushing yards, pocketed an extra $250,000 for helping Philadelphia to its second Super Bowl victory thanks to his unique contract structure.

That’s on top of the $250,000 he already earned for reaching the Super Bowl, while his All-Pro first team selection earned him another $1 million in bonus money and salary escalation.
