Tom Brady was seen wearing a stunning $740,000 watch at the Super Bowl on Sunday night – and Dave Portnoy’s hilarious take on it quickly went viral.
Brady was calling his first Super Bowl in New Orleans as part of a 10-year, $375million broadcasting deal with Fox, despite outrage over his perceived conflict of interest as a part-owner of the Las Vegas Raiders.
The Kansas City Chiefs saw their bid for a historic three-peat go up in smoke on the night, with the Philadelphia Eagles thrashing them 40-22 at Caesars Superdome with the likes of Donald Trump and Taylor Swift watching on.
Yet while the Chiefs’ humiliation was undoubtedly the biggest story on the field, Brady garnered plenty of attention away from it it after fans spotted his striking gold watch.
The seven-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback caused a stir online after he was seen donning the $740,000 timepiece, leaving viewers scrambling to find it.
And after picking up on the swanky 49-carat number, Barstool Sports founder Portnoy jokingly asked if Brady was wearing a watch from Brick – the brand he launched back in 2022.
Dave Portnoy couldn’t resist a hilarious gag about Tom Brady’s $740k Super Bowl watch
The Barstool founder joked that Brady was wearing a watch from a brand he launched in 2022
The 49-carat timepiece was actually a yellow sapphire Jacob & Co. Caviar Tourbillon
He wrote on X alongside pH๏τos of the NFL legend: ‘Oh my god! Is Brady wearing a Brick Watch?’
Fans certainly the funny side of Portnoy’s gag, given his Brick company charges nowhere near six figures for a watch.
One user replied: ‘Ha ha ha ha zero chance’.
Another commented: ‘It may be a brick but it ain’t a Brickwatch’.
While one brutally joked: ‘It’s not THAT ugly!’
Brady’s watch was actually a yellow sapphire Jacob & Co. Caviar Tourbillon, which is encrusted with 338 brilliant-cut diamonds.
Remarkably though, his $740k timepiece wasn’t the most expensive on show at the Caesars Superdome.
That’s because Jay-Z turned up rocking a $3.5m RM66 Flying Tourbillon ‘Rockstar’ in red-orange sapphire.
Fans were left stunned by Brady’s watch as he attended his first Super Bowl as an analyst
What’s more, his watch was a limited edition of just two pieces, meaning only one other person has an identical timepiece.
All the same, fans were amazed by Brady’s rose gold effort, which at $740k far exceeds the average house price in New Orleans of around $315k.
Benjamin Arabov, CEO of Jacob & Co. said in a press release reported by Page Six: ‘Tom Brady is the epitome of excellence, both on and off the field.
‘The Caviar Tourbillon embodies the precision, luxury and innovation that define Jacob & Co. We’re honored to have him represent the artistry and craftsmanship behind every piece we create.’
