Chiefs owner Clark Hunt opens up on how Taylor Swift grew team’s fandom

Taylor Swift has been credited to be the rather not-so-invisible string between the Chiefs and their newfound fanbase.

Within the last year after winning their second consecutive Super Bowl, Chiefs owner Clark Hunt has noticed a “big leap” in his team’s fandom, specifically with “young female fans.”

And he is crediting that portion of growth to the Grammy award-winning singer just days before Kansas City tries to chase down the first-ever three-peat in Super Bowl 2025 against the Eagles.

“I think we had something, like, a 30 percent growth in our fan base, which is pretty significant, even for a team that won the Super Bowl,” Clark told CNBC Sports on Thursday.  “So you definitely have to give Taylor a little bit of credit for that.”

The billionaire also pointed out that the Chiefs had several games this season that went on to break viewership record, which he also mentioned Swift for.

“And I think Taylor’s a little bit a part of that,” he said.

Swift, 35, stepped into the NFL scene in 2023 when it was publicly announced that she is dating Chiefs star тιԍнт end Travis Kelce.

Hunt has previously commented on the couple, saying “We’re so happy for Travis and Taylor — what a great couple” during an event for Athletes in Action in June 2024.

Hunt’s oldest daughter, Gracie Hunt, also recently commented on the 14-time Grammy winner in January to People.

“It’s been such a special time to have her be a part of Chiefs Kingdom. She is just as beautiful and wonderful as you’d ever imagine her to be, so smart and intelligent,” she said.

The musical artist has since been spotted often in Arrowhead Stadium and she was in attendance along side several celebrity friends and Donna Kelce for the Chiefs’ overtime Super Bowl victory over the 49ers last season.

She will be in the crowd once again this year.

Swift has already been spotted in New Orleans with Kelce for a double date with Patrick Mahomes and Brittany Mahomes on Friday night.

It will be Swift’s second Super Bowl in support of Kelce as he tries to earn the Chiefs their fourth big game victory in the last five years.

They defeated Philadelphia — Swift’s home team as a Reading, Pa native — two years ago in an offensive shootout 38-35.
