Despite her love for Taylor Swift, Kelly Stafford, wife of Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford, revealed the abuse she received from Swifties after sharing her thoughts on how much she is shown on camera at NFL games.

During an episode of her podcast from last November, Stafford said she was ‘tired’ of how much the NFL showed her during Chiefs games because she would outshine the football at times. 

Swift is at the games as the girlfriend of Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce, with their public relationship beginning at Arrowhead Stadium in September 2023. 

‘Honestly, I did get a lot of heat from them,’ Stafford said to Us Weekly. ‘I was like, “Whoa, I love Taylor.”‘

‘When you’re constantly seeing someone on your social media every scroll, you kind of lose that love, you know?’ Stafford continued. ‘That’s what I was saying. I was like, “I’m seeing her every second, I’m never wondering about what she’s doing.”‘ 

Stafford then explained her love for Swift, taking her daughters, twins Sawyer and Chandler, 7, 6-year-old Hunter, and the youngest, Tyler, 4, to an ‘Eras Tour’ show last October. Matt and Kelly also dressed up as Kelce and Swift for Halloween this year respectively, copying the pair’s outfits from the US Open.

Stafford did not want the football to be outshined by Swift’s appearance, prompting the abuse

And her previous comments towards Swift does not make Stafford understanding of why she’s pictured. The NFL has drawn in a batch of ratings records with her in attendance over the last two seasons.

That should include Sunday’s Super Bowl in New Orleans for the Chiefs against the Philadelphia Eagles, with Swift expected to be in a luxury suite alongside members of her family and the Kelce’s.

‘For sure you show her,’ Kelly said. ‘She’s doing the same thing I’m doing or Brittany Mahomes is doing. She’s there supporting the man that she loves. If you’re gonna show families, you’re gonna show family. She is Travis Kelce’s family. So you’re definitely going to show her.’

The Stafford six have been shown on NFL broadcasts in the past in prime view with no better example than last year’s postseason. 

That was when Matthew played for the Rams against his former team, the Detroit Lions, in the Wild Card in his first game back in the Motor City. 

Kelly and her four daughters were all dressed in matching gear to honor their husband and father.
