Extraction is a 2020 American action thriller film directed by Sam Hargrave and written by Joe Russo, based on the graphic novel Ciudad. The film stars Chris Hemsworth, Rudhraksh Jaiswal, Randeep Hooda, Golshifteh Farahani, Pankaj Tripathi, and David Harbour. The film follows an Australian black ops mercenary, Tyler Rake, who is sent to save an Indian drug lord’s kidnapped son in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

Ovi Mahajan Jr., the son of incarcerated Indian drug lord Ovi Mahajan Sr., is kidnapped by corrupt police officers working for rival Bangladeshi drug lord Amir Asif. Ovi Sr. orders Saju Rav to retrieve his son, threatening to kill Saju’s own son if he is unwilling.

Tyler and his team prepare to extract Ovi Jr., with Ovi Sr.’s men set to pay them once he is recovered. Tyler saves Ovi Jr., kills his captors, and takes him to the extraction point. Asif orders a lockdown of Dhaka, securing all bridges and travel points. Ovi Sr.’s men fail to transfer funds, as authorities have frozen Ovi Sr.’s bank account, making it impossible to pay the mercenaries.

Saju kills Tyler’s teammates and tries to kill Tyler to save Ovi Jr. himself and cheat the mercenaries out of their payment. Khan arranges for a helicopter to extract Tyler outside the city and tells him to abandon Ovi Jr. since the contract has been nullified. Tyler refuses to leave Ovi Jr. behind, haunted by memories of his own son suffering from lymphoma.

Tyler escapes Saju and corrupt Dhaka Metropolitan Police, fighting off a gang led by Farhad. He calls Gaspar, a retired American squad-mate, and they lay low at Gaspar’s home. Gaspar reveals Asif has placed a $10,000,000 bounty on Ovi Jr., which Tyler refuses to share. He fights Gaspar but is sH๏τ and killed by Ovi. Tyler calls Saju and asks for his help, and they team up to escape Dhaka.

As Asif watches from afar, a firefight ensues, with Saju being killed by Rashid and Khan. Tyler instructs Ovi Jr. to run to Khan’s helicopter, but is sH๏τ in the neck by Farhad. Tyler falls into the river, and Ovi Jr., Khan, and the extraction team escape to Mumbai for safety. Eight months later, Khan kills Asif in a restroom, and Ovi Jr. returns to Mumbai and practices holding his breath in a swimming pool, mirroring the scene where Tyler is introduced chronologically in the film.
