Micah Parsons says he would take pay cut get Myles Garrett on Cowboys

Micah Parsons appeared to be making his pitch for the Cowboys to go get Myles Garrett, going as far to say he’d take less money for the disgruntled Browns defensive end to come to Dallas.

Garrett requested a trade out of Cleveland earlier this week after spending the first eight years of his career with the Browns, who drafted him with the first overall pick in 2017.

“He earned it, he earned that,” Parsons said during an interview on CBS Sports HQ on Thursday. “Bro, honestly like I’d like to see him in Dallas. I don’t know if we have the money for him.”

Before Parsons could go any further, host Bryant McFadden — a former NFL cornerback who played six years of his career with the Steelers — asked if the Cowboys edge rusher would be willing to take less money on his next contract to get Garrett to Dallas.

Parsons left little doubt that he would by responding: “100 percent.”

“Will he take less too?” Parsons added slyly.

“He [Garrett wants] to be with us too,” Parsons claimed.

Garrett hails from Arlington, Texas, and played college football at Texas A&M, which is a roughly three-hour drive from Arlington.

He grew up a Cowboys fan and had even begged Dallas to move up in the 2017 draft to pick him.

Parsons also talked about the idea of bringing in Garrett earlier in the day when he was on “Up & Adams with Kay Adams.”

“Yo! Go get us Myles Garrett,” Parsons replied when host Adams asked what move he’d make if he were general manager.

If the Cowboys could find a way to bring Garrett in, it would give them two of the league’s best edge rushers, with Garrett finishing with 14 sacks — second-most in the NFL last season — combining with Parsons’ 12 sacks in 2024, which tied for fifth-most.

The Cowboys would need to extend Garrett after they acquired him in a trade since he does not have any guaranteed money in his final two years on his deal.

Hence, why Parsons would be willing to take a lesser amount on his own extension to make it work for Garrett in Dallas.
