Ex-NFL star Warren Sapp storms out of interview at the Super Bowl after furious argument with host

NFL legend Warren Sapp suddenly stormed out of an interview on radio row at the Super Bowl in New Orleans on Thursday after getting into an argument with the host.

Sapp was having a back-and-forth with Zach Gelb, whose sports talk show streams on Sirius XM and other platforms.

Then Sapp was asked who was the best players in the NFL Draft. The current Colorado ᴀssistant coach’s reply – Travis Hunter, Shedeur Sanders, Cam Ward – in that order.

Gelb then asked Sapp about Adbul Carter, who is seen as the best prospect, outside of Hunter, by most in the draft. Sapp and Carter both made their names on being sack machines, which leads Sapp’s outburst to be confusing.

‘What was the last edge rusher from Penn State? And what rushing he doing?’ Sapp said.

Gelb’s answer was Micah Parsons, who has been playing linebacker since he arrived at Penn State. Despite the position switch, Parsons has 52 sacks in four years in the NFL.

Gelb makes the ᴀssertion that Parsons gets ‘like 15 sacks a year’, which is incorrect, but not too far off. He’s finished every NFL season between 12 and 14 sacks.

The name of Parsons seemingly gave Sapp the invitation to stand up and walk out of the interview without shaking the outstretched hand of Gelb.

As Sapp goes out of frame, his distant audio can be heard saying more about Parsons as he walks away. Judging by Gelb’s response, it was not positive comments about the Dallas Cowboys star.

Sapp has degraded Parsons’ game before, saying in an interview with Jason Whitlock last year, ‘I can show you enough plays where he look like Betty Taylor rather than Lawrence.’

Parsons and Sapp do not appear to have any public feud outside of Sapp’s comments, although the former Buccaneer and Raiders great seems to take great offense to the Nittany Lions alumnus being called great.

Maybe coaching under Deion Sanders taught Sapp a thing or two about bravado in interviews. He was not exactly shy during his NFL career either.
