Chiefs coach Andy Reid breaks silence on conspiracy theory NFL refs favor Kansas City

Kansas City Chiefs had coach Andy Reid has blasted the idea that his team receives special treatment from NFL officials.

Throughout the regular season and coming off of both Chiefs’ playoff victories this year, one of the lasting talking points has been the favoritism to Kansas City.

Now with the world watching, Reid has spoken out about whether the conspiracy theory holds any weight.

‘I don’t think the officials care about what’s said. They’re doing their job,’ Reid said on Thursday in his final pre-game media availability before Sunday’s Super Bowl against the Philadelphia Eagles.

‘They’re doing it to the best of their ability. they don’t favor one side or the other, and that’s not how this thing goes. It’s a good story, but that’s not reality of how it works.’

‘You’d be insulting them to think that’s what they do. They go out and they call it like they see it. As a coach, there’s some I sit there and I go, “I don’t agree with some, some I agree with.” That’s how it goes, but It does make for a good story.’

During the Chiefs AFC Championship victory over the Bills, where the ball was spotted after a Josh Allen fourth-down run and scrum has made many upset after possession was given to Kansas City instead of keeping a possible game-winning drive intact for Buffalo.

A few late-game calls against the Houston Texans also were in the crosshairs of the Chiefs detractors.

The theory comes from a few different angles, also including for the NFL to make the most money off of the record TV ratings that have followed the Chiefs in their current dynasty.

Plenty of television ratings have skyrocketed for the NFL to see a team be the dominant one in the league and the chase to take them down.

It’s even more special to have big characters on that team such as Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce.

Kelce’s relationship with 14-time Grammy Award winner Taylor Swift, and the ‘Anti-Hero’ singer going to games, no doubt has helped television ratings.

Swift is expected to be in attendance on Sunday for the NFL tile game in New Orleans.

Anything other than an Eagles victory should enrage those that think the fix is in for the Chiefs.
