Saquon Barkley kept Anna Congdon engagement a secret long before Super Bowl 2025 reveal

Saquon Barkley and fiancée Anna Congdon have been in a state of engagement bliss for some time.

One day after news broke that the Eagles running back, 27, got engaged to his longtime girlfriend, Barkley ironed out the timeline of the proposal Monday at a Super Bowl 2025 press conference in New Orleans.

“This is not new by the way,” Barkley said, according to People. “I know it just broke the other day but I’ve been engaged for like six months.”

People confirmed Barkley’s engagement to Congdon in a report Sunday.

The couple, who crossed paths at Penn State, are parents to daughter Jada and son Saquon Jr.

Barkley, now gearing up for his first Super Bowl, was pressed Monday about what’s more nerve-wracking: playing in the big game or proposing.

“That’s the second time I had that question. I probably shouldn’t have said proposing,” he quipped.

It’s been a magical first season in Philadelphia for Barkley, who signed a three-year, $37.75 million deal with the Eagles in free agency after six years with the Giants.

He became the ninth running back to surpᴀss 2,000 yards in a season (2,005) and has since been nominated for Offensive Player of the Year and the league’s MVP.

Barkley, who only reached the postseason once during his tenure in New York, is savoring every moment Super Bowl week has to offer.

“You never know the next time you’re gonna be there, it took you seven years to be here, it’s a great opportunity to have this platform so enjoy it and try to have as much fun as I can,” Barkley said.

“You just got to take it all in. This is part of it, you got to enjoy it so I’m happy to be here, happy to have a conversation with you guys.”

When Barkley punched his ticket to Super Bowl 2025 last month with a dominant 55-23 NFC Championship triumph over the Commanders, he was joined by Congdon and their children at Lincoln Financial Field for the confetti celebrations.

“If I could wrap my arms around this memory, I would…,” Congdon wrote on Instagram in January.

The Eagles are seeking Super Bowl revenge after they fell to the Chiefs in the championship contest two years ago, 38-35.
