Jameis Winston would ‘absolutely’ take Saquon Barkley’s advice and sign with Giants

Perhaps Jameis Winston is going to take Saquon Barkley’s advice to heart.

After the quarterback asked Barkley on Monday at Super Bowl 2025 media night who should sign him in free agency, the Eagles star and former Giant said, “I think New York needs a quarterback right now,” later clarifying he meant the Giants.

And if the Giants were actually interested, Winston would be, too.

“Would I really sign with the Giants? Absolutely!” Winston told NJ.com. “I want to keep playing and do what I do best.”

The Giants have a glaring void at quarterback after cutting Daniel Jones during their miserable 3-14 season, following which owners John Mara and Steve Tisch decided to keep head coach Brian Daboll and GM Joe Schoen for a fourth season.

Currently holding the No. 3 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, the Giants could select someone like Shedeur Sanders or Cam Ward if either is available and pair one of them with a veteran.

“I have a ton of respect for coach Brian Daboll, the things he does offensively,” Winston told NJ.com. “I think we have a young— woah! They have a young roster. But they have a young roster that’s ready to win. They’re ready to bounce back. I know they’re hungry over there.”

The 31-year-old Winston, who is a Fox correspondent at Super Bowl 2025 after going viral several times during the 2024 season for his motivational speeches with the Browns, has always possessed a big arm but is a turnover machine.

He started seven games and made 12 appearances for Cleveland — which lost starter Deshaun Watson to a torn Achilles in Week 7 — and had 2,121 yards pᴀssing, 13 touchdowns and 12 interceptions.

The No. 1 overall pick by the Buccaneers in 2015, Winston started for Tampa Bay for five seasons, culminating with his 5,109-yard, 33-touchdown, 30-interception 2019 campaign.

He then spent four years as a backup for the Saints.

After dumping Jones, the Giants went with a combination of Tommy DeVito, Drew Lock and Tim Boyle at quarterback over the final seven weeks.
