EXCLUSIVESam Darnold remains coy on his NFL future as he prepares for free agency after stunning year in Minnesota

Sam Darnold remains in the grey area regarding his future in the NFL, with questions looming over his time with the Minnesota Vikings.

After joining the team this past season, the 27-year-old led the Vikings to a 14-3 season that ended in the Wild Card round in a loss to the LA Rams.

Nonetheless, his success in his first season with Minnesota led to Darnold’s first Pro Bowl nod, joining six of his teammates in Orlando this weekend.

Speaking to DailyMail.com at the Pro Bowl Games practices on Saturday, Darnold expressed his confidence in his work ethic as he approaches free agency.

‘It’s the work I’ve been putting in my entire career that gives me that validation,’ Darnold said. ‘Continue to trust the work I put in no matter what the results are.’

‘I think for me the biggest thing is to figure that out with my agent when the time’s right,’ he added when asked about his future with the Vikings.

‘But right now, I’m just gonna worry about enjoying this moment with these guys and all my teammates who made it here as well.’

Jonathan Greenard, Bryon Murphy, Brian O’Neil, and Andrew Van Ginkel made their Pro Bowl debuts alongside Darnold. Meanwhile, Andrew DePaola and Justin Jefferson made third and fourth appearances, respectively.

After getting selected by the Jets with the third overall pick in 2018, the USC product remained in East Rutherford for three years. From there, he spent two seasons with the Carolina Panthers and a lone season with the San Francisco 49ers, where he had a career-low campaign.

Darnold signed a one-year, $10million deal with the Vikings and impressively bounced back from the season prior.

He completed 361 of 545 attempts for 4,319 yards and 35 touchdowns, all career-high numbers.

While Darnold has been coy over his future, he has been linked to several teams, including the Steelers, Seahawks, and Saints.
