Brittany Mahomes aims thinly-veiled dig at Chiefs conspiracy theorists ahead of Super Bowl

Brittany Mahomes has fired sH๏τs at NFL fans claiming this season’s playoffs are being ‘rigged’ for the Kansas City Chiefs in a thinly-veiled dig on social media.

The Chiefs are gearing up for their third straight Super Bowl in New Orleans next weekend, where the Philadelphia Eagles will be standing in their way of a historic ‘three-peat’ at Caesars Superdome.

It has been another dramatic run to the showpiece for Andy Reid’s team, who benefited from a number of controversial decisions in previous wins over the Buffalo Bills and the Houston Texans.

As a result, fans have accused NFL referees of purposely giving the Chiefs the rub of the green to help them in their three-peat bid.

But Patrick Mahomes’ wife is having none of it.

Just over a week out from the Super Bowl, Brittany took aim at conspiracy theorists peddling ‘false narratives’ by sharing a message from longtime Chiefs radio host Mitch Holthus on her Instagram story.

Holthus was quoted as saying: ‘We can stay with false narratives or discuss this — KC was 17th in % of scoring drives that were aided by a penalty for a first down on such drives in regular season.

‘Number 1? Wait for it… Buffalo. 33% of scoring drives were aided by penalty for a first down on 86 scoring drives.’

The Chiefs’ Divisional win over the Bills was marred by controversy after Buffalo quarterback Josh Allen was ruled short of a potentially crucial first down at the start of the fourth quarter.

Allen tried sneaking up the middle on a tush-push to secure what would have been a vital fourth-and-inches conversion with his team clinging onto a one-point lead.

Yet to the dismay of CBS commentators and fans watching at home, he was ruled to have fallen short of the first down, a decision which allowed the Chiefs to regain possession.

The controversial call sparked outrage, with Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy accusing NFL officials of ‘cheating’ and CBS rules analyst Gene Steratore saying he felt Allen had made the first down by ‘a third of the football’.

Before that game, however, Patrick Mahomes also rubbished any suggestions that the Chiefs get the benefit of the doubt from referees.

NFL down judge Patrick Holt controversially denied the Bills a crucial first down against the Chiefs

The Bills were denied a potentially crucial first down in their Divisional defeat to the Chiefs

‘I don’t feel that way,’ he told reporters in a press conference. ‘I just try to play football at the end of the day.

‘The referees are doing their best to call the game as fair and as proper as they can and all you can do is go out there and play the game you love as hard as you can and live with the results.

‘So for me, it’s to go out there, play hard, try to do whatever I can to win the football game and then live with the results based off my effort and the way that we played the game.

‘So I think that’s what we preach here in Kansas City.’
