EXCLUSIVENFL legend Charles Woodson's surprise Super Bowl prediction... and verdict on 'rookie' Tom Brady's debut

NFL icon Charles Woodson believes the ‘loaded’ Philadelphia Eagles have what it takes to upset the odds and end the Kansas City Chiefs’ dreams of the Super Bowl three-peat in New Orleans.

Woodson is among the superstar faces of Fox’s broadcast team on the ground for the big game, and he exclusively gave Mail Sport his lowdown on what he expects from the season finale next weekend.

‘I was able to go to the NFC Championship game last week and just being on the field and actually seeing that Eagles team up close and personal… wow,’ he said between golf rounds at Hilton Grand Vacations’ Tournament of Champions in Orlando.

‘That team is loaded… they’ve got the size, strength, speed, and my mind is telling me they should win. But when you got that guy on the other side, Patrick [Mahomes]… and Travis Kelce, and Andy Reid, that combination has proven it ain’t no pushover for nobody.

‘So they’re going for it, man, that’s a story [the three-peat]. I could definitely see the Eagles winning, but I don’t know if I’m putting any money down!’

This season Woodson has reunited with his former teammate Tom Brady on Fox, with the seven-time Super Bowl winner joining the network on a 10-year, $375m contract.

The pair previously played together at Michigan, have been good friends for more than 25 years, and Woodson has helped his integration into the TV world this season.

‘He’s a rookie again,’ Woodson joked when asked for his opinions on Brady’s first year in the job. ‘It’s way different than playing, you know. Now he’s talking about the game and everyone is leaning in whenever he speaks because they wanna hear that “something” from him. You know, “hey, how did you win seven?”‘

‘He has to feel his way through it. Calling games and digging into a team, finding out background on players, knowing the whole roster, getting your points out, having some personality… all that stuff is hard!

‘I think, over the course of the year, he’s got better at it. He’s a self-analytical guy, so I’m sure he’ll watch the tape back and figure out what he can do better next year.

‘That’s just what he does. You know, he’s a winner.’

Woodson won the Heisman at the end of his time playing with Brady in college, and until this year was the most recent defensive player to lift the award.

Colorado’s Travis Hunter broke that streak, and all eyes are on him ahead of the Draft this April.

There has been plenty of talk about his role on both sides of the ball in the NFL, and Woodson believes whoever drafts him should use him in multiple roles.

‘Most likely a quarterback will go first, Woodson revealed, adding: ‘But Travis is a phenomenal athlete. He can do anything, all over the field.

‘I think he’ll continue to do special things in the NFL. Whoever drafts him, I think there does need to be packages, some crossover.

‘If he’s a full-time defensive player, there needs to be some packages on offense. If he’s a full-time offensive player, he should play some defense. But what I do think, he should not be out there trying to start every play!’
