Julian Edelman makes strong Tom Brady Super Bowl claim

Former New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman is looking forward to seeing ex-teammate Tom Brady at the Super Bowl – but in an entirely different role than he’s used to.

Brady, the seven-time Super Bowl champion, is set to call Super Bowl LIX as a color commentator alongside play-by-play man Kevin Burkhardt for FOX Sports.

Edelman, who also works for FOX, will be working with the two in some capacity when the Kansas City Chiefs play the Philadelphia Eagles.

It will serve as the final game Brady calls in this his first year of being a broadcaster – with a global audience of millions set to tune in for the contest.

Speaking to ‘Fox & Friends’ on the Fox News Channel, Edelman made a prediction on what we might see – or, rather, hear – from Brady in the booth.

‘I guarantee he’s probably going to be very fired up,’ Edelman told the panel. ‘He’s probably going to be imagining himself in those situations.

‘I think it’s going to be a great performance by him because he’s gonna get to show us inside looks to things only he knows Patrick Mahomes is going through.’

But Brady will be hamstrung in his abilities to properly prepare for the Big Game ahead of him.

After he officially became a part owner of the Las Vegas Raiders, Brady was made to follow rules that would prevent him from gaining certain access he would normally get as a broadcaster.

This was done to ensure fairness in the game – and so that Brady couldn’t glean any information that may help him improve his team or help them prepare for a future opponent.

Even without attending those meetings, Edelman believes that Brady will still be able to do his job.

‘I’m sure he can figure it out on his own. I’m pretty confident coaches and players of the other team don’t mind talking to Tom Brady,’ he said.

Brady has received mixed reaction in his first year as a broadcaster, leading some to wonder if he would return for year two of his ten-year deal he inked with FOX. But Brady will indeed return as a broadcaster for next season, with no plans for the rules put in place by the league to prevent him from still working.

This Super Bowl is set to be a rematch of Super Bowl LVII – when the Chiefs beat the Eagles 38-35 thanks to a late field goal.
