Joe Buck mocks troll who thought he was on the call for Chiefs’ AFC Championship win

Joe Buck is likely getting the last laugh on this one.

The ESPN sportscaster had some fun with an online troll Sunday during the Chiefs’ AFC Championship win over the Bills, even as the critic missed the mark where facts are concerned.

“Of course @Buck is the announcer for chiefs game,” the X user @bobslazer began Sunday, “he’ll find any chance he can to dog KC.”

Yes, Buck has covered the Chiefs this season, but Sunday’s telecast belonged to CBS Sports and the tandem of Jim Nantz and Tony Romo — something the “Monday Night Football” play-by-play caller cheekily brought to the detractor’s attention.

“Yep! Almost set to go. Cold here in KC. @tonyromo and I are about to see who will meet the Eagles in SB LIX. Tune us in on @NFLonCBS,” Buck replied.

CBS’ coverage of Kansas City’s 32-29 triumph over Buffalo wasn’t without controversy as Nantz said a flag had been thrown during a critical moment in the fourth quarter, with the network displaying the accompanying yellow graphic.

Nantz then clarified the mix-up.

“We had a report from the sideline that there had been a flag,” Nantz said. “But there was no flag. There was no penalty at all.”

Buck, 55, joined ESPN in 2022, teaming up with his longtime on-air partner at Fox, Troy Aikman.

Fox’s new team of Kevin Burkhardt and Tom Brady will be on the call when the Chiefs face the Eagles in Super Bowl 2025.

ESPN will broadcast the big game in two years.

The Chiefs are chasing Super Bowl history as they look to be the first team to three-peat as victors.

This year’s Super Bowl will also serve as a rematch of the championship contest two years prior, when the Chiefs topped the Eagles, 38-35.

Super Bowl 2025 kicks off from the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans on Feb. 9 at 6:30 p.m.
