Aaron Glenn has revealed that no decision has been made on the future of Aaron Rodgers as he begins life as head coach of the New York Jets.
On Monday, Glenn and new general manager Darren Mougey spoke for the first time since joining New York in recent days.
The Jets suffered another miserable season with Rodgers at quarterback. The 41-year-old’s first season was ended by injury after four snaps. Last season, the Jets ended 5-12.
Rodgers has teased the possibility of retiring – and playing elsewhere – and Glenn addressed his quarterback on Monday.
‘Aaron Rodgers will be talked about. We have texted our communication with Aaron Rodgers and (decisions will be made) as we continue to look at the roster,’ he said.
‘We’re going sit and talk and build the whole roster… we’re looking forward to that process. I can’t tell you how long that process will take… (but) we’re going to get the right answer.’

Glenn and new Jets general manager Darren Mougey were unveiled to the media on Monday
Before Glenn made his way on to the podium at 1 Jets Dr, the first message of this new era was told by the playlist blaring through the auditorium speakers.
‘Sweet Child O’ Mine’ was followed by ‘Whatever it takes’ and ‘Brighter Day’ and ‘Anything is possible’ and then, of course, Taylor Swift.
‘Welcome to New York’ rang out minutes before owner Woody Johnson led both Glenn and Mougey on to the stage.
The Jets had whittled down 30 candidates to these two, with Johnson claiming New York was ‘blessed to have these two gentlemen here’.
Their task is simple: end the longest active playoff drought among America’s four major sports leagues. It stretched to 14 seasons after another miserable campaign that ended with the Jets 5-12.
The Jets announced the arrival of Glenn last week, bringing him ‘home’ more than three decades after he first joined the Jets as a player.
The 52-year-old spent eight seasons as a cornerback for the Jets and later worked as a scout for the organization.
After hanging up his cleats, Glenn became a coach for the Browns and the Saints before taking over as defensive coordinator for the Detroit Lions.
He now takes over from Jeff Ulbrich, who was made interim head coach following the firing of Robert Saleh midway through last season.
Glenn will work alongside Mougey, who has been appointed general manager. Mougey previously worked as ᴀssistant GM for the Denver Broncos.
