A strong first half from the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFL Championship game saw multiple calls for recognition for the team’s running back, Saquon Barkley.
Barkley had a fantastic first half – right from the get go. He took a handoff 60 yards for a touchdown on the first play of the Eagles’ first offensive drive of the game.
On the Eagles’ second drive, Barkley found pay dirt again – rushing for his second touchdown of the game to take a 14-3 lead.
That led to multiple calls from Eagles fans to crown Barkley the Most Valuable Player of the league.
One of those people was former Eagles center Jason Kelce, who simply tweeted, ‘MVP’ in the aftermath of the first touchdown.
Many others voiced their admiration for the running back, who is one of the final five candidates for the award that voters already cast their ballots for.

‘If the NFL was honorable Saquon would’ve had a STRONG MVP case,’ wrote one user on X, formerly Twitter.
Sports pundit Jason Whitlock posted, ‘Barkley is the clear MVP. Shame it’s going to be stolen from him because of the QB obsession.’
Another Eagles fan posted, ‘It’s hilarious Saquon isn’t gonna win MVP, while clearly being the most impactful guy all year.’
One NFL analytics account posted, ‘Saquon Barkley is the MVP. If you’re not going to give him the award this year, just make it an official QB award.’
Barkley is up against four quarterbacks: Josh Allen of the Buffalo Bills, Lamar Jackson of the Baltimore Ravens, Joe Burrow of the Cincinnati Bengals, and Jared Goff of the Detroit Lions.
It’s believed that one of Allen or Jackson is the front-runner for the award, which will be handed out at the NFL Honors during the week of the Super Bowl.
At the half, Philadelphia was leading 27-15 – having scored on four of their five drives (TD, TD, missed FG, TD, TD).
The winner of this game will advance to Super Bowl LIX to take on the winner of the AFC Championship between the Buffalo Bills and the Kansas City Chiefs.
