Aaron Rodgers appears to be trending towards a return to the New York Jets, with new head coach Aaron Glenn ‘open’ to working with the quarterback next season.
Rodgers’ future is one of the biggest talking points of the upcoming NFL offseason, as fans wait to see whether the veteran will retire, find himself a new team, or return to MetLife for another year.
A new report from NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport has shed some light on the situation, with the insider revealing: ‘The New York Jets also hired a head coach, Aaron Glenn, one of their former superstars. They have a quarterback decision.
‘Aaron Rodgers has been very clear that the decision about whether he comes back will be up to the new head coach and the new general manager.
‘Aaron Glenn, to my understanding, is open to it… Rodgers as well. Expect those conversations to ramp up in the coming week.’
After rupturing his Achilles in his first game with the Jets back in September 2023, Rodgers stayed healthy for the entirety of the 2024 season, but it was an underwhelming one for New York.

The Jets went 5-12 to finish third in the AFC East, and fired head coach Robert Saleh in October.
Jeff Ulbrich took interim charge of the team for the rest of the season, but the front office have now decided on a new head coach-general manager partnership, bringing in former Lions defensive coordinator Glenn.
He was joined by former Broncos ᴀssistant GM Darren Mougey as GM a few days later, cementing the new-look decision-making pair in New York.
One of their first decisions will surround who plays quarterback in the 2025 season, and talks will continue this week.
The Jets are set to unveil Glenn and Mougey at a press conference at Florham Park on Monday afternoon.
