Falcons’ Antonio Hamilton Sr. has home broken into, safe with guns stolen as athlete burglaries continue

Burglaries of professional athletes’ homes don’t appear to be slowing down.

After several high-profile incidents in recent months, Falcons cornerback Antonio Hamilton Sr. had his Georgia home burglarized early Friday morning, according to TMZ.

Security cameras caught three men rummaging through the home after breaking in through the back door while Hamilton, who turned 32 on Friday, was out of town.

Roswell police were called to the residence just after midnight, but the trio had already fled the residence, making off with a safe containing “firearms and multiple expensive handbags,” per the outlet.

Hamilton shared a bible verse on Instagram early Friday morning, seemingly addressing the incident, writing, “And since you don’t know when that time will come, be on guard! Stay alert!”

The latest burglary follows the arrest of four Chilean nationals earlier this week in connection to the burglary of Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow’s Ohio home in December.

Before Burrow, Chiefs stars Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes each dealt with burglaries in October.

In late December, Mavericks star Luka Doncic had jewelry valued at around $30,000 stolen from his home, following burglaries of fellow NBA players Bobby Portis Jr. and Mike Conley Jr.

And, just days ago, Cavaliers guard Ty Jerome’s house was robbed while Cleveland was on a road trip.

Even before what happened to Hamilton, the NFL and NBA warned players about how professional athletes have been targeted by crime groups, with a South American ring alleged to be the perpetrator behind the incidents.

According to ESPN, the groups are “reportedly well-organized, sophisticated rings that incorporate advanced techniques and technologies, including pre-surveillance, drones, and signal jamming devices.”
